Unit 4: Research and Development for Media Production

Why did I decide to choose my main idea out of the other ideas and how my idea has been developed constantly?

The reason why I choose to develop my third idea even further as my one main idea for the production of my documentary is because when I was in Year 12, I got introduced to the topic about the objectification of women by my Media teacher, Ms Molyneux and this really got me interested into the subject matter as I really wanted to raise awareness to the wider public and do something about it so that the objectification of women doesn't exceed and so that it doesn't become too obvious and often in the music videos.

Music videos won't be music videos anymore but rather soft porn music videos which will start to become too inappropriate for the young viewers such as children and teenagers.

At the beginning, I actually wanted to produce a documentary about the objectification of women and how it influences younger viewers.
But I had to slightly changed my ideas because
- I had to develop a focussed subject matter.
- of target audience feedback.
- There was already a documentary made in the market about the objectification of women. As this was the case, I changed my idea into the governement censoring sexy music videos.

Yet also, other reasons why I decided to make a documentary about the government censoring sexy music videos  is because it is a unique idea that has never been emphasised upon and it has got a USP that is that it is made by a young person for young people. My target audience are young and like to see information about sex and music as it is the most popular topics in their lives.
